HANDEL Georg Friedrich (1685-1759)

Handel was born in Germany in the same year as Johann Sebastian Bach and Domenico Scarlatti. Handel decided to settle permanently in England In 1712.

Handel is today, with Bach, a symbol of the Baroque period. He was famous for his operas, oratorios, and concertos, strongly influenced by the composers of the Italian Baroque and the German tradition.
